A flexible Share Bike

In many larger city they have developed bike share programs, where you can go to a central location and borrow a bike, when you are done you need to return it.   In Portland with the help of Nike the city is offer a flexible system  without fixed location for picking up or returning the bike.  This kind of solution might work well in a small city or town like SLO.

Strava Insights a Website that Looks at Upload Fitness Tracking Data

The article looks at fitness data from runners and cyclist that has been upload by the Stava Phone app, from 12 cities around the world.  The website is pretty slick with features that allow comparison of commute distances and elevation gain for example.  In the commute section you can see a map of how people are commuting, which might be useful if planning a trip through one of these cities.

Here is a great article discussing how intersections can be made safe for bike.  In the article it introduces the first “protected intersection” opened this month in Salt Lake City.  It would be great to have one here in San Luis Obispo.
