Club Communications

The SLOBC has developed a set of communication tools to keep members connected and informed. They fall into four general categories: Member Email Communications, Social Media, Volunteer Email and Club Email Communications. The following identifies what is included in each of these categories.

Member Email Communications

The SLOBC supports a set of email groups that permit members to communicate with each other based on interest. You will find the Email Groups on our Resources webpage.

• SLOBC members may Join any group – no one is automatically added.
• Only group members may send emails using the group's email address.
• Only group members receive emails sent to the group's email address.
• New groups can be setup by sending a request to email-groups@slobc.org.

Social Media

Facebook

The SLOBC Facebook page – www.facebook.com/slobc.org (link opens in new window) – includes news from members enjoying club activities, upcoming cycling events, bicycling safety and interesting tidbits about bikes. Everyone is invited to visit our Facebook page – you do not need to have a Facebook account. Those without an account should ignore Facebook's request at the top of the page to login or setup and account. Just scroll down the page to see what is happening, like posts and add comments.

If you have a Facebook account and want to Post content on our Facebook page, send an email to the club's Facebook Administrator at facebook@slobc.org and ask to be given access. We love having members contribute.

Instagram

The SLOBC Instagram page – www.instagram.com/slobc_org (link opens in new window) – includes posts of club events, rides and activities that anyone can see. The club uses a series of hashtags to relate posts with a similar focus. If you use these hashtags on Instagram posts, you can search and see all posts with the same hashtag. The suggested hashtags are:

• General SLOBC: #slobc
• Wildflower Century: #slobcwildflowercentury
• Lighthouse Century: #lighthousecentury
• Ride Groups: #slobcslopokes, #slobcyellowjackets, #slobcfrequentfeeders, etc.

Volunteer Email

Many of the club's volunteer positions have slobc.org email addresses (e.g., president@slobc.org or membership@slobc.org). The addresses allow anyone to communicate with the member currently holding the position. Addresses appear as links throughout this website with most listed in our Volunteer Directory on the Resources webpage.

Club Email Communications

Constant Contact Emails & Surveys

The SLOBC subscribes to an online email and survey service – Constant Contact. Every new SLOBC member is automatically added to the list. Non-members/slobc friends can subscribe using the Newsletter Signup Form. Once you are on the list you remain there until you unsubscribe.

There are "Safe Unsubscribe" and "Update Profile" links at the bottom of each Constant Contact communication. Note that unsubscribing will remove you from all Constant Contact communications and only you can add yourself back by resubmitting the Newsletter Signup Form.

SLOBC Member Website Emails

All current SLOBC members are automatically included in emails sent from our SLOBC Members website email system. Keep your information up to date by logging into the Member site and updating your information under the Membership tab.
