Tom's Tour along Adventure Cycling TransAmerica Trail

On May 4, our friend, Tom Parks, began his effort to revisit his "youth" by returning to the TransAmerica Trail he traversed 10 years ago. This route will take him from Yorktown, Virginia to Florence, Oregon. In these pages you'll be able to follow his adventure.

Before the ride completes, Tom will travel through 10 states (Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and Oregon) and ride 3,250 miles. Tom is using the maps and route slips provided by Adventure Cycling, but otherwise he is on his own -- carting all his gear and clothing the length of his trip.

Tom will be sending back periodic progress reports which will be posted here. Separate pages will be set up for each of the states below showing the route and Tom's progress. Click on the state name in the table to reach the individual pages.

Tom must leave his planned trip because of a death in his extended family. He will now ride to Rock Springs and then drive to Oregon. After taking a break from riding, however, he plans to ride from Washington with Tony Leap. Stay tuned...

Note, I just got some updated stories from Tom (go to Wyoming page)

If you want to post a message for Tom that will be shown on these pages, send them to FrankMullin@Charter.Net. Perhaps you have a photo or story to share. We would all love to see them.
