Rode the longest (in terms of time) century of my life. That was because we fought headwinds the whole day. Didn't get in until 6:00 PM.

Along the way we saw a procession of green fields and red barns -- I guess that is the "Ohio" look.

After yesterday's tiring ride, our group decided to get bumped up. I guess we missed the easy part because we had rollers after rollers.Wooster

Another day in which I am pacing myself. We started in the drizzle, but it got harder all day. Since I had bumped up at the start of the ride, I "had" to continue riding in the afternoon rain. The trip was one of weat roads, potholes, railroad tracks, and traffic -- no a lot of fun. The scenery, when I took the time to look, continued to be pretty -- green fields and some really nice yards (I feel homesick for mine).Niles

6/16Bill Petersen Joan,
Harvey told me about your journey and how I could check out your progress. What an adventure and challenge. I'm very impressed and I send you best wishes for a safe completion of your long ride. Cousin Bill
6/16Ben Patrick Hey Joan! Tomorrow you will be traversing the area of Ohio where I grew up. Watch out in Niles for this is the town known as the headquarters for the Ohio Mafia! Remember the U. S. congressman James Traficant, who was expelled from congress last Fall? - His district included the areas you will be going through. And as you get to Courtland (I was there last August for my fiftieth High School class reunion) you will be passing Mosquito Lake - hope you have lots of deet! And then on to Conneaut where I spent many Summers building machinegun nests on the beach at lake Erie - was WW II then. Enjoy OH 10!
6/17Lee Propst Hi Joan,
Looks like your in the flatlands. Need to get back West where there are mountains. We don't have much to talk about in this small town in Oregon, so when are you going to start another trip? Life is very boring here(I say this so no more Californians will move in)!! Sorry wasn't here when you called on Sunday. Have a safe trip..you're getting near the end. Great accomplishment! You're YOUNGER brother is proud of you.
6/17Jay Johnson Joan: The Race Across America group just started Sat. 15th. They'll be doing apx. 350 miles a day for apx. 8-9 days. Some due on the east coast about the 22-23ed. (june). Just a note of encouragement. Keep pedaling (faster).
