Varian and Joan rode together for the first time. The ride started along the lake with vineyards and beautiful homes along the way. After about 50 miles, it turned inland.

There were headwinds in the morning, but it was nicer in the afternoon.

One thing of note was the roads in New York - the road conditions and shoulders are the best we've had on the whole trip.

Today we started in the rain and it continued. The temperature was in the low 50's, so the riding conditions were really miserable. In addition, the route was more difficult with lots of really tough rollers.

Finally, my group tossed in the towel and boarded the SAG. Naturally, as soon as we did, it stopped raining.

The scenery along the way was quite beautiful - especially when it stopped raining. We stayed in a really lovely area among the finger lakes.

Today was going to be an easier day so we had breakfast an hour later and planned on a relaxed day. Best of all, it was cloudy and cool, but no rain. The I got into "flat hell." I got a flat and fixed it. Then got another, and another, and another. Finally, someone found a tiny shard of glass that had been missed. That stopped my flat problem. In the evening, the mechanic found a couple of additional shard that were still embedded in my tire.

The scenery was really beautiful as we rode in the Erie Canal Park.

This was Verena's last day.

This was a great day - really enjoyable riding conditions. There were perfect temperatures, a tailwind and really lovely scenery, which included green houses and nurseries. At one point we saw what was claimed to be the smallest chapel in the world.Little Falls

The day started out really beautiful with warmer temperatures. We were riding through the Mohawk Valley with tailwinds. The only difficulty during the day was the road construction as we passed through Schenectady.Albany
