5-June | 86 | There was a great tailwind after we crossed into Missouri. The route seemed flatter than yesterdays and that was nice. The weather also continued to be sweet - in the mid-70's. While it was humid, it wasn't muggy. We reached our seventh state, today. | St. Josephs
6-June | 87 | Stady rolling hills. Along the way, we stopped at Maysville, which has a historical society. Them meet yearly (at least) to meet this tour group with baked goods, lemonade, peanut butter sandwitches and a tour of their local museum. This has a real small town feeling. The group is a buch of older folks (like us). I felt right at home! The roads today featured narrow shoulders and potholes! At the 70 mile point we descended into a valley and stopped at a town that had plaque stating "happy are those who dream dreams and are willing to pay the price to make them come true." How's that for motivation! Today we rode all day, not finishing until 4:00 pm | Chillicothe
7-June | 75 | This was another challenging day of rollers -- it felt tougher than yesterday. The shoulder was bad with lots of rocks, and this led to me getting a flat within the first 10 miles. All day the roads seemed to feature oil and gravel. We rode all day -- and there wasn't much out here. In fact, lunch had to be SAG'd out to us. One thing that kept the day interesting were the birds -- whippoorwills and bob whites and others. | Kirksville |
