Well, Joan reports that California is (almost) behind her. It was a tough day today -- temperature reach over 100 degrees and it was really hot.

The route today was almost totally on I-10. But the road and shoulders were good. In fact, she liked todays route better than the previous two days where the roads were not so good.

Joan is really enjoying the company she is keeping -- a great group. There are five women and 21 men in the group. And Joan is really appreciating the support being given by CrossRoads.

5/5Lee PropstI'm Joan's brother and want to say how proud my family is of her willingness to compete in this upcoming adventure. We are concerned about her safety, especially through "tornado alley" after what has happened in the past 24 hours. We have no doubt she will make it to Boston as she has always been a competitor, even in high school. I'm sorry now that I was always the mean little brother.
5/8Verena FlorenceThis is Verena Florence, one of Joannie's biker buddies. I wish Joannie all
the best, tons of fun and perfect weather conditions for her cross country
tour. May her biking adventure be even better than her wildest imagination.
In the past few weeks, we have often trained together. I miss Joannie
already. But, I will see her in Indianapolis. Until then, have a blast,
Joannie.

Hi!!!!!!!!!!
How is the ride?
Are you having fun?
we miss you alot!!!!
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!
You are the best, grandma! I have never heard of someone else's grandma riding her bike across the country. Even driving is a big feat!!

5/12Willi Zilkey The Hammerhead gals missed you on the Friday ride....the Pozo Loop. Judie,
Gail, Willi and special guest, Don, left Santa Margarita at 7:30....a special
concession to Gail, who whined a lot. Weather: great; winds: light;
camaraderie: top notch, except you weren't there. Wherever you are, you're
having more fun than we are. We're eager to hear from you. Willi
