Groups: The San Luis Obispo Bicycle Club (in conjunction with Yahoo!
Groups) has also set up a collection of groups that the members can join (or quit).
Each of these groups has a specific purpose. By being a member of
a group, you can easily contact or be contacted by other members of the group. For
example, suppose you are a member of the "Mountain Baking" group. It's
Tuesday, and you'd like to find some riding companions for a ride you'd like to
do tomorrow. It's too late for the Ride Calendar to do you any good. So
you send a message to the Mountain Biking group. All the members will receive
your message and you may find your partner. We
will list the set of group as they are formed on this page, so you can always
return here to look for something interesting. There are instructions for
how to join and quit each group. We
will monitor who joins the groups and remove non SLOBC individuals from the groups
(to keep the spam out). We
have not set things up so that the moderator, Rita Colonell, filters messages
before they are distributed. If we find that spam is creeping in, we will
look for ways to deal with that. One
"penalty" for using a service such as Yahoo! Groups to host this service
is that they will append an advertisement on each message we send. |
