Lighthouse Hilly Metric

The first part of your ride is done with the hilly century riders. You'll leave Cuesta College and travel through Morro Bay. You'll then turn inland along Old Creek Road. The first climb brings you above Whale Rock reservoir and some spectacular views. After a brief descent, you will face another more challenging climb, eventually peaking in the beautiful woods in the Cypress Mountain region. You'll continue to Highway 46 which features another brief climb followed by a 9-mile descent.
You'll then rejoin the riders doing the flat routes and ride with them to Cambria.
You'll continue north past San Simeon, Hearst Castle and the lighthouse before reaching your turn around at Piedras Blancas. Along the way, you have some great views of coastal hills, the coast, and (possibly) some elephant seals.
You'll then return to Cambria for lunch before riding with the Metric riders along highway 1 all the way back to Cuesta College.
When you return to the BBQ, you will have added about 69 miles and 4,000-feet of climbing to your credits.
