Frequently Asked Questions

What is the weather like?
Generally, the weather in September is cool close to the ocean. But be prepared for a variety of weather conditions. If you have weather concerns, please refer to your local television or Internet weather forecast (ZIP code 93442). The ride will be held rain or shine.
Do you serve food at the rest stops?
Be prepared for world famous food in abundance at our numerous rest stops. This includes a buffet lunch (with a collection of Linn's delicious pies) during the ride and an after-ride BBQ dinner at Cuesta. Extra dinners for non-riders can be ordered for $7.00.
Where do we check-in for the ride?
See our directions page. Check-in is located in the southeast corner of Cuesta College at building 100. This is located on the west side of parking lot 6.
Is Friday check-in available?
Yes it is!  Starting at 4:00 p.m., and continuing thought 7:00 p.m., you can check-in at Cuesta College. This is a change from prior years.
When can we start riding?

Saturday morning check-in opens at 6:30 a.m.  Riders of the 100-mile flat or hilly century may start riding between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.  The metric-century riders may start between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. IF YOU START EARLY YOU MAY GET TO THE REST STOPS BEFORE THEY ARE OPEN.

What if we arrive late?
Riders starting late should consider shorter routes as the rest stops may close before they arrive, and the COURSE WILL CLOSE AT 5:00 PM. Stragglers will be offered a SAG ride to the start and will be on their own if they turn this down.
Where can I find the photos that were taken during the ride?
Event photographs are taken by PhotoCrazy (which has no affiliation with SLOBC). We will update this page to provide a link to their web site once they post the photographs for the ride. Currently photos for the 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004 and 2003 Lighthouse Century are available at their web site.
How do you handle the registrations of tandems?
We register riders not bicycles on all of our rides. Consequently, each rider on a tandem needs to register separately.
